Connecting with the World, Activating a Bilingual Education Environment.
The vision of the EMI Center at Tamkang University encompasses enhancing the capacity of faculty to offer EMI courses and equipping students with a good command of English. Through the participation of the Best Programme funded by the Ministry of Education, the EMI Center is expected to foster teaching quality and to improve learning efficiency in the College of International Affairs.
Each year, the Center holds two international online training courses as well as four physical teaching training camps, providing further expertise so as to enhance and cultivate the teaching energy of the faculty, as well as to stimulate diverse bilingual teaching formats. Additionally, the Center holds one large-scale international level academic seminars annually to stimulate exchange between bilingual education experts and scholars. The center is also actively setting up diverse student learning resources, by providing numerous advance English learning channel for free: the English writing consultation room is open to students for four hours every day, while the English presentation consultation room can be utilized during four of the weekdays, all of which can provide comprehensive refinement and upgrades to students’ English abilities. The Center is also utilizing digital technology to set up five EMI MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) that is available for students around Taiwan to attend, thus achieving the goal of EMI course and resource integration and sharing, creating the learning opportunities that are within easy reach, where the international perspectives of students can be nurtured and to increase their competitive edge!
The University currently has even established 10 English-taught programs (both undergraduate and postgraduate), and shall continue to expand on them, in order to enrich as well as enliven the professional, diverse contexts and fields, so that Tamkang University students can continue to step onto the international stage and look ahead to a global village where they can also proper.
